CallHippo
Cloud phone and call center platform with an AI enhancement layer

Tool details
CallHippo is a cloud phone (VoIP) and cloud contact center (CCaaS) platform under the Appitsimple group, launched in 2016. Its core is global virtual numbers, a dialer, and IVR, with AI voice agents, AI Copilot, and conversation intelligence layered on top as enhancements — note that AI is an enhancement layer, not the product core.
Core capabilities
- Global virtual numbers: local/toll-free numbers in 150+ countries, available on Web, desktop, iOS, Android, and a Chrome extension
- Call center suite: IVR, smart routing, call queues, real-time monitoring, agent whisper coaching, and call parking
- AI voice agents: autonomous inbound/outbound handling, lead qualification, meeting booking, and contextual handoff to a human, claimed to be 24/7 and to support 35+ languages
- Conversation intelligence: AI transcription, sentiment analysis, call scoring, keyword/topic extraction, and call summaries
- AI Copilot: real-time sentiment insights and script coaching during calls ($10/user/month add-on)
- Omnichannel inbox: a unified inbox for voice, SMS, WhatsApp, Email, and Instagram
Where it fits Budget-conscious small and midsize teams (1–50 people) and distributed teams that need global local numbers and focus on outbound/sales plus basic customer support; growing teams that want to test AI voice agents at low cost. Those who want a predictable total price or enterprise-grade WFO/WFM should be cautious.
Unique strengths A low entry barrier: a free Basic tier plus a 10-day trial with no card required, and unlike Aircall/JustCall the base tier has no 2–3 seat minimum; at the same price point, the "international numbers + parallel dialing" combination offers strong value. The AI capabilities are genuinely delivered, but mostly as add-ons or in higher tiers, and the underlying models are not disclosed.
Editorial assessment As a cloud contact center it is feature-complete, quick to start (placing the first call in 3–5 minutes), and internationally cost-effective, rated about 3.5/5. Two risks must be flagged: AI is an enhancement layer, not AI-native; and the trust picture is split — G2/Capterra around 4.3–4.5, while Trustpilot's actual scrape is 2.7/5 (684 reviews), with complaints centered on billing/auto-renewal/refunds and cancellation friction, plus feedback on call quality and numbers being flagged as spam.
