Play HT
An independent AI dubbing platform built on third-party speech synthesis

Tool details
Play HT is an independently operated online voice-over site: paste a script, pick a voice and download an MP3 for a finished clip in three steps, with the sound quality coming straight from a third-party speech synthesis service (ElevenLabs). It has no operating relationship at all with the archived play.ht / PlayAI — accounts, subscriptions and API credentials do not transfer between them, so do not treat the two as the same provider.
Core capabilities
- Text to speech: paste a script and get an MP3; guests are capped at 500 characters per generation, 10,000 with a subscription
- 655-voice library: native-speaker voices across 32 languages, grouped by scenarios such as narrative, dialogue, teaching and social media
- Voice cloning: upload a 30–60 second sample to build a private voice, with 1, 4 or 20 slots depending on tier
- Audiobook maker: import PDF, EPUB, TXT or DOCX, generate chapter by chapter and export a packaged ZIP
- Multi-speaker dialogue: assign different voices to different characters in the same script, suited to audio drama and short-drama narration
- Preview API: one endpoint lists voices and one endpoint returns audio, with no availability guarantee, so it only fits short sample demos
Where it fits Useful for short-video and podcast creators who want quick scratch audio, for adding a human voice to courseware or long documents, and for small teams auditioning audiobooks; if you need a production-grade SLA, lossless WAV or fine-grained SSML tweaks, this is not the right tool.
What sets it apart All speech synthesis is routed to a third party (ElevenLabs) and the site develops no models of its own, so audio quality is the same as the upstream service and works out of the box; the trade-off is that the same capability is cheaper directly from ElevenLabs — what is sold here is a Chinese-language interface, one-stop packaging for audiobooks and cloning, and an easier operating path.
Editor's take The no-login preview really does produce audio (3 times a day), the paid flow is complete, and it is franker than similar name-riding sites about being an independent service. On third-party directories it has only 9 ratings and a 4.4 score, still far too small a sample; the deductions are an undisclosed operator, no refund terms and MP3-only output, so use up the free allowance before deciding whether to pay.
