Book Cover Generator
A front-cover generator aimed at independent authors

Tool details
Book Cover Generator is an online studio that handles one thing only: the front of a book cover. You type in the title, the genre and a story summary, get two cover directions back, take one into the editor to change the type and the colours, and finally export at the size each retail channel expects. It is aimed at independent authors on a tight budget who need a single cover that can go on sale for an ebook or an audiobook. One caveat needs saying up front: when we tested the site on 2026-10-30, its front-end scripts failed to load and the online generation entry point was temporarily unavailable.
Core capabilities
- Story brief to image: title + 21 genres + story summary return two cover directions in one pass, and the genre sets the composition grammar
- Editor fine-tuning: change the title and the author name, adjust the colours, and keep refining by describing the change in natural language
- Five channel presets: HD 1024×1536 PNG, KDP front 1800×2700 PNG, ebook 1600×2560 JPG, audiobook 3000×3000 JPG, social launch 1200×630 PNG
- Watermark tiering: previews carry the site-name watermark, the file you actually download does not
- Front cover only: there is no browsable template library and no spine or back cover output, so a paperback needs a separate print template
- Opaque model stack: the site does not disclose which model or provider it uses, and with the scripts down we could not verify it at code level
Typical use cases It suits independent authors who publish only ebooks or audiobooks and want to settle the visual direction before deciding whether to outsource. It is not a fit for a full paperback wrap, for layered editable files, or for non-Latin typesetting.
Standout strengths Most tools in this category bill monthly; this one is a one-off purchase and the credits never expire. The five export presets line up directly with KDP, Audible and social sizes, which saves a second round of cropping. The narrow scope also keeps the boundary clear: no spine, no back cover.
Editorial verdict As a first stop for cover direction, both the workflow and the price structure treat authors well: signing up brings 20 credits, roughly two generations, the daily check-in adds 5 more, Basic is $19 for 100 credits and Pro is $39 for 500 credits, so the cost of trial and error stays very low. Until the entry point is restored, judge by the pricing and the export specs whether it is worth waiting for; if you need a full print wrap or layered files, going straight to a designer is less trouble.
Pricing
Freemium$0 (20 free credits on signup, about 2 generations)Granted on signup with no credit card required, about 2 generations; the daily check-in adds another 5 credits, so it works as a long-term free allowance
List price $29 crossed out, one-time purchase, about 10 generations, includes high-resolution downloads and commercial usage rights
List price $69 crossed out, one-time purchase, about 50 generations, unlimited books and projects, includes priority email support
Additional notes
All three tiers are one-time credit packs, with no monthly or annual subscription, and 10 credits come to about 1 generation; the site has no contact-sales tier. Because the 20 credits granted at signup and the 5 credits from the daily check-in count as a long-term free allowance, the model is classed as freemium.
