Tool details

Fontique calls itself an "AI type foundry", but it does not deliver font files: the site's own FAQ says outright that there is no installable font, and the output is only a PNG bitmap. It is more accurate to treat it as a text-effect typesetter that needs no prompts, serving one-off needs such as covers, posters and tattoo references.

Core capabilities

  • Style preset library: 16 style categories carry 224 material presets, covering fire, neon, chrome, 3D and Chinese ink, with no prompt writing required
  • Resolution and aspect ratio: 1K/2K/4K tiers, 7 aspect ratios, batches of 1 to 4 images, output ready to drop straight into a video editor
  • Three render models: Standard, Pro and Quick run on gpt-image-2, Gemini 3 Pro Image and an experimental tier respectively, all relayed through APIMart
  • 40-character ceiling: input is hard-truncated to 40 characters, which naturally forces short headlines, while long sentences and long Chinese strings are basically impossible
  • Commercial license built in: all credits include commercial rights, with no watermark and no attribution needed, so output can go straight into circulation

Where it fits YouTube and Douyin covers, social-media holiday posters, sticker and merch mockups, and style reference images before seeing a tattoo artist are its comfort zone. Fonts meant to be installed in Word or Figma, logos whose lettering gets revised repeatedly, and vector print deliverables are all out of scope.

Distinctive strengths Rare at this price point is the transparency: the footer permanently reads "Rendered with gpt-image-2 and Gemini 3 Pro Image", Fontique has no model of its own, and both Standard and Pro are relayed through APIMart, so what it sells is preset orchestration and the generation experience. It feels more hand-drawn than free sites such as Textcraft and FontMeme, and removes one layer of friction compared with tuning prompts inside Ideogram.

Editorial verdict Clean positioning and honest copy; covers come out easily, and credits are bought once with no subscription attached. But the transparent background is available only on the Quick tier and is self-labelled experimental by the site, while the homepage still promises transparent PNG, which is an overpromise; bitmaps cannot be retyped, the 40-character ceiling stands, credits start expiring after 90 days, there is no free tier, the upstream relies on APIMart alone, the operating entity is undisclosed, and the /contact page still carries old copy that conflicts with current pricing. For brand identity systems or print deliverables, go elsewhere.

Pricing

Subscription$3.49 (Starter, 1,800 credits, valid for 90 days)

$3.49

1,800 credits, valid for 90 days; about $0.194 per standard 1K image

Creator
$8.99

9,000 credits, valid for 180 days; about $0.100 per standard 1K image (48.5% cheaper per credit than Starter)

Studio
$22.49

24,000 credits, valid for 365 days; about $0.094 per standard 1K image (51.7% cheaper per credit than Starter)

Additional notes

No free tier, no subscription, no monthly billing: signing up only grants a small amount of welcome credits (valid for 30 days, the amount is undisclosed), and once they run out you have to buy one-time credit packs; credits are valid for 90/180/365 days and are void after expiry. Different models and resolutions deduct different credit amounts: Standard 1K costs 100 credits and a single Pro 4K image costs 700 credits, so the "about 4/22/60 Pro images" claimed on the cards is an optimistic estimate based on 400 credits, while the real figure is only 2.6/12.9/34.3 images. The site also holds a CNY configuration, but the en and zh pages settle uniformly in USD, so it is an unused configuration; the /contact page still carries old copy that conflicts with current pricing.

FAQ

There is no free tier. Registration only grants a small number of welcome credits (valid for 30 days, amount undisclosed); once they are used up you have to buy a one-time credit pack starting at $3.49, with no subscription and no automatic renewal.
