MangaTranslate
Ficory's image translation and lettering tool for manga pages

Tool details
MangaTranslate is an online manga image translation tool from Ficory LLC that folds bubble detection, OCR, translation, text removal with infill, and typesetting into one pipeline: upload the images, pick the languages, download the finished pages. One point is worth stating up front: detection and lettering are built in-house, while the translation step is handed to third-party large models, so it is not fully self-developed.
Core capabilities
- Whole-chapter batch processing: PDF/ZIP/TAR in, ZIP/PDF out, up to 15MB per page, and up to 200 pages per run on the Ultra tier
- Three in-house recognition engines: Manga, Ultra, and EagleEye, three OCR setups where one takes a manually chosen source language and the other two detect it automatically
- Text removal and infill: the original text is erased along the bubble shape and then filled back in; in testing about 95% of panels showed no visible trace
- Studio editor: edit dialogue block by block, move text boxes, change fonts and text colors, and import your own fonts and export them separately
- Multi-model translation: switch among GPT-6.1, DeepSeek, and Grok; the translation layer is not self-developed
- Broad language coverage: 30 source languages and 117 target languages, including Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian
Who it is for Individual readers chasing untranslated releases, amateur scanlation groups racing to finish a whole chapter, and small studios taking multilingual jobs all get use out of it; developers who want image translation inside their own pipeline can go straight to the V2 API.
What sets it apart Most comparable tools hand back a single image or a block of plain text; this one hands back a finished page you can still rework: 17 fonts come with genre-based suggestions, and Studio covers the last stretch. The API also returns the text-removed image and blocks[] with four-corner coordinates, so downstream systems can carry on with the layout work.
Editorial assessment Solid capability, rough packaging. The free allowance is 5 credits per day and shared across one public IP, subscription credits reset at the end of each billing period and do not roll over, and refunds recognize only verifiable failures lasting more than 48 hours. The GitHub link in the footer is already a 404, /docs/ is an empty shell, and the blog's last post is dated 2025-03, still teaching people to upload EPUB files and paste URLs, two routes the product dropped long ago. One more warning: it is a completely different product from the similarly named AI Manga Translator (ai-manga-translator.com and .app), with separate sites and separate pricing, so do not land on the wrong one.
