PhotoTextEdit
An AI image editor that replaces text in place on finished images

Tool details
PhotoTextEdit is an image text editor built around a single job: you upload an already flattened finished image (PNG, JPG, WebP), enter the original text and the replacement text, and the model erases the old words in place, rebuilds the background texture, and redraws the new words in the original typeface style and perspective. It states its own limits more plainly than most tools in this category, and it is made for people who are left with nothing but a finished image while the text still has to change.
Core capabilities
- In-place text replacement: Enter the original and the replacement text, and the model erases the old words, rebuilds the underlying texture, and redraws them in the original typeface style and lighting; best suited to finished posters and packaging shots
- Erasing and same-typeface rewriting: Deleting text from an image, rewording it a different way, and repairing garbled characters in an AI-generated image all run through the same generative pipeline
- Two output tiers: Fast deducts 1 credit per image and outputs 1K at any aspect ratio; Pro deducts 3 credits per image and outputs 2K, with aspect ratios limited to between 1:3 and 3:1
- Free text overlay: Adding text uses local compositing on the browser's Canvas, with no model call, no credit charge and no sign-up, and it exports at the source image's resolution
- Transparent upstream: No in-house model is claimed; requests go through the KIE aggregation gateway to xAI Grok Imagine 2.0 (Fast) and OpenAI GPT Image 2.5 Flare (Pro)
- Credit mechanics: One-time credit packs never expire, downloads are not charged a second time, and credits are returned automatically when a task fails or is cancelled
Typical use cases Changing net weight and promotional prices on packaging for e-commerce stores and independent shops, updating status or model year on real-estate and car photos, repricing items and posting opening hours on store menus, localizing app screenshots into other languages, and repairing garbled lettering in AI art. Scenarios that need layers, batch runs, API access or multi-page PDFs are not a good fit.
Distinctive strengths Most text-replacement tools stay vague about where their models come from; this one names both upstream models directly in the page configuration, and the cost split lines up with that: the cheap path runs at 1K, the expensive one at 2K. The site also volunteers what it cannot do — lettering smaller than 15px, curved text and blank designs — so expectations are less likely to be disappointed.
Editorial verdict Its value is narrow but real: no reshoot and no redesign, and for a few cents to about a dollar a line of text on a finished image can be swapped out. It suits small merchants and independent developers who edit only a dozen or so images a year, and the 30-credit pack at $9.99 is enough to start; teams handling dozens of images a month should move to a larger pack or look for a plan that includes batch processing and a subscription.
Pricing
Subscription$9.99 (30 credits, about 30 Fast-tier 1K edits; no permanent free tier)Signing up grants 1 trial credit, valid for 7 days and limited to 1K output; 2K (Pro tier) unlocks only after credits are purchasedAbout $0.333 per Fast edit (1K, 1 credit deducted); the Pro tier deducts 3 credits per image, about $0.999 per 2K edit
About $0.267 per Fast edit (1K, 1 credit deducted); the Pro tier deducts 3 credits per image, about $0.800 per 2K edit
About $0.222 per Fast edit (1K, 1 credit deducted); the Pro tier deducts 3 credits per image, about $0.667 per 2K edit
Additional notes
First, there is no permanent free tier: signing up grants only 1 credit, it expires within 7 days and can only produce 1K, so the “per edit” price shown on the page holds for the Fast tier alone. Second, the Fast tier deducts 1 credit per image while the Pro tier deducts 3, so within the same pack a Pro edit costs about 3 times as much as a Fast one. Third, all three packs are one-time purchases, credits do not expire, and downloads are not charged twice; the amounts and credits above follow the pricing page as written.
